Was told "this is the tricky part" ...needed a deposit before he could give me an application. I know some places charge an application fee, so I didn't question it, although it was a little higher than others at $500. Ended up taking a different apartment. When I contacted the person again, I was told that it was non-refundable, that it said so on the bottom of the application...the one he didn't hand me until After I had sent the deposit. I was Not told upfront that this was actually a deposit on the apartment, or that would not be refundable
