This evening as I tried to leave the south east parking garage at the Royal Alexander Hospital it was after hours and the manned booth was closed. I had previously, over the last four days while my mother was recovering from surgery, been using my VISA debit card to pay, and without the booth my options were restricted to credit card or cash. When I tried to get assistance from the call button I was told to go into the hospital and pay at one of their machines. I left my granddaughter with the car and walked back into the hospital. I found out the machines in the hospital will not work for that parking garage. I walked back and contacted the help line again to ask how to proceed. I was told to find an ATM and get cash to use. I managed to get exact change since I didn't have a credit card with me. I walked back across the street to the parking garage and went to the only pay station in the facility that I was told I could use cash with. It was broken and would only accept credit cards. When I called the help line again (this was the fourth time I had talked to the lady that answered the phone tonight) I was spoken to harshly when I asked how I was supposed to pay so I could leave. She was antagonistic and extremely unhelpful. I was stuck in the garage with no way to leave for over an hour while I ran back and forth between the hospital and garage. She finally said in a harsh sarcastic tone "FINE, I will let you out - you have been *such* a pleasant person to deal with". All I wanted to do was pay to exit the garage. It took over an hour and was extremely stressful. If cash is supposed to be an acceptable method of payment there should be some where to make that payment. Aside from that the staff of the help line should actually be helpful instead of antagonistic.
