I had to take my mother in a wheelchair accessible cab on March 30. Although the driver was courteous his van was not a proper size to accommodate the wheelchair. I had to assist the driver in holding the wheelchair in place while put 1 safety hook on the left side. I had to ask if he was going to put the one on the right side. He said he could. I insisted he did. The the tailgate wouldn't close all the way. I looked back from the passenger seat to see daylight shining through. I asked the driver about this and he said "it's OK, I've got it tied" he put a bungie cord across the tailgate to keep it closed. That was a very nerve-wracking drive. He drove slow enough so no bumps or potholes would make the tailgate move a lot. This was not safe a all. Since there are a limited number of wheelchair cabs I felt I had to use this one. But never again. I'm glad it wasn't -30! When I called to get a cab for the return trip I informed the dispatcher of this incident. The cab on the return trip was 100% safer.
